Steve founded Proscenium Live, an annual free festival of new plays produced in Portland, OR, in partnership with Portland Shakespeare Project and Proscenium Journal. Proscenium Live has produced over 17 new plays, commissioned 4 new works by Portland-area playwrights, and has provided free theatre to more than 1,800 audience members. Many of these plays have gone on to full productions, including Pericles Wet, a work commissioned and developed by Proscenium that went on to receive a full production with Portland Shakespeare Project that earned rave reviews. Steve has received a number of grants to support Proscenium Live, including an Ozy “Genius” award, the Strauss Scholarship, and a Haas Summer Project grant from Stanford’s Haas Center for Public Service.

Steve also founded Proscenium Journal, a free literary journal for publishing plays. Proscenium has published six issues and over 25 plays.
